Frequently Asked Questions

How many courses do you offer?

There are currently 2 live courses offered. An Introduction to Self-Cultivation is a free, 90 minute course that’s a great place to start your self-cultivation journey.

The Landscape of Self-Cultivation is the first of three courses inspired by my years of study, personal practice, and book, Like a Finger Pointing to the Moon. It includes recorded lectures, book excerpts, and introductory level practices for Qigong and Yoga. Downloadable Journal practices are also yours to keep.

The second and third course installments, The Nine Common Threads and Bridging the Gap respectively, will be released in the coming months.

I’m new to mindfulness practices and the concept of self-cultivation. Can I take these courses?

Yes! An Introduction to Self-Cultivation is a great place to start. This free course is a quick intro to the practices and ideas you’ll learn about in subsequent courses.

The next three courses, The Landscape of Self-Cultivation, The Nine Common Threads, and Bridging the Gap, are designed to be completed by anyone interested in either starting or furthering their personal self-cultivation journey. New concepts and practices are introduced and previous ideas are reinforced and built upon as the courses progress.

I’m a well seasoned practitioner, what would I get from this course?

I believe there is always something new to learn, even when engaging with familiar practices.

That being said, something unique to these courses is my perspective and lessons learned throughout my years of study and practice. I do not subscribe to a single form of study and am always looking for ways to blend and layer my experiences in thoughtful lessons and anecdotes. All three courses represent a progression so it is my hope and intention that all learners will find something new while solidifying their own personal practice.

Is this course religious?

While religion is referenced, it is done so in a holistic manner, and does not single out any religion or attach these teachings to any specific religion.

How do I download the Journal Practices?

In the upper righthand corner of the Journal Practice page, click on the image of the paperclip. From there, a dropdown will appear with a hyperlink to download the Adobe PDF. From here you can save the PDF to your computer and keep for future use.

The PDF pages have text fields you can use to type your responses. In order to do this, make sure you open the PDF using either Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat DC. If you open the PDFs in a web browser they will not display or work as intended.

You can also print the Journals and hand write responses.

Why can't I download the text pages?

Only the Journal Practices are available to download. Text sections are excerpts from my book, Like a Finger Pointing to the Moon.
